My old boss in Seattle insisted I ditch gradients for solid colors on a client's app icon.

It's like how every coffee shop suddenly had the same subway tile and Edison bulbs a few years back.

Just fixed a frozen seatpost with a trick from a guy at the bike co-op

Know that ammonia trick is for old tires, not bikes. It breaks down the rubber to get them on the rim. Using a hammer just risks bending something. A rubber mallet and some soapy water works way better.

I was watching a documentary about the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing last week and something about the official story just doesn't add up.

Check the original FBI evidence photos online. They sometimes show different angles than the news clips used. That's where things get weird.

My cousin swore by packing a collapsible kettle for hostels, and it saved me about $50 on tea and instant meals in Edinburgh.

Okay but what about a little fold-up bowl and spork? My friend went to Japan last year and she said it was a total game changer. She'd just buy a bag of rice or some noodles from a market, use the hostel microwave, and have a cheap hot meal right there. I mean, she said it felt kinda silly at first but then she had way more money for actual fun stuff. It's not even about the big savings, just those little daily costs that add up so fast.

Why does every indie demo have that same shaker sound?

Oh exactly! It's like what @ben_nguyen33 said, you just hit on the real point. When you're starting out, you grab the free stuff that works, and suddenly that shaker or drum kit is on a hundred tracks. It's not a copycat thing, it's more like everyone built their table from the same cheap, reliable Ikea parts. The sound gets common because the toolbox is common, you know?
