Got my derailleur dialed in with a mirror from my bathroom

I was fed up with my bike skipping gears on hills. So I grabbed a small mirror from the bathroom and held it behind the rear derailleur. Watching the reflection while I turned the limit screws let me see exactly where to stop. Now it shifts smooth every time without any fuss.

A dental mirror is a solid choice. The trick is getting the angle right so you can see the back of the screw head. A small magnet taped to a thin screwdriver can also help if the screw is steel. Just be careful not to scratch the board. Sometimes a bit of sticky tack on the tip of your driver will hold the screw in place long enough to get it started.
