inThat AI consultant said my dataset was too clean, turns out he was right
Too clean" datasets, huh. I get the theory but most real world data is a mess and training on scrubbed stuff can miss that. Saying it performs better with missing fields feels like an excuse to skip proper handling, not a genuine improvement.

inPicked up a solid wood desk off Craigslist for free yesterday
Honestly @williamd70, free maple furniture is a great find but I always worry about bed bugs or something hiding in the cracks. You got lucky it cleaned up so easy.

inRant: Hot air vs infrared rework stations, spent $300 to find out
Hot air seems fine to me if you know what you're doing. I've done plenty of GPU repairs with just a decent hot air station, never had pads coming off unless I was being way too aggressive with the heat or holding it in one spot too long. Infrared sounds nice for big boards but dropping $300 on a whole new setup when you can learn to control your hot air better feels like overkill. You probably just needed more practice with your technique, not a whole different tool.

inThat old server room smell got me thinking about battery backups
Forgot to check mine for years too, @the_barbara, but luckily nothing caught fire. A buddy of mine actually had his whole home server setup die because the batteries leaked acid everywhere inside the case. He didn't notice until the UPS started making a weird buzzing noise and the smell of burnt plastic filled his office. Had to toss the whole thing and replace all his drives because the corrosion was so bad. Still makes me nervous every time I walk past mine now.

inOld concrete finisher told me to stop using a bull float and try a fresno on driveways
Wait, a Fresno is for final finish, not the same job as a bull float at all.
