inLooking back at mixing mortar by hand versus the first mixer I used on a job in Denver
Actually, I was only a few hours into mixing by hand when the delivery truck pulled up. The difference was immediate, but not just in speed. That first machine-mixed batch had a smooth, almost creamy feel that held together better on the trowel. Hand mixing always left little dry pockets or uneven spots, but this was totally uniform. It just stuck to the bricks differently, way less slump right out of the box.

inVent: My old brush head snapped off inside a flue liner yesterday
Lost a lot of time" sounds rough, but an hour to fish it out with a homemade tool seems like a pretty good save to me.

inSpent $80 on a new phone charger and it made my old car radio pick up a station from 1992
Whoa that's wild! My old laptop charger used to pick up a local police scanner. I'd hear dispatch calls clear as day until I moved the cord. Tech ghosts are real.

inThe day my boss told me to stop working at 5 PM
Yeah, and it makes you wonder how much of that late work is just for show. If the work gets done, the time shouldn't matter at all.

inCan we talk about how many people still use 'password123'?
Seriously, is it that big of a deal for a kid's school account? It's not like they're guarding state secrets. Most people just want to log in and get on with their day without a whole security quiz. Forcing everyone to change passwords just makes them write it on a sticky note anyway. The whole thing feels like making a problem where there isn't one for regular folks.
