A simple keypad replacement turned into a three hour crawl space adventure

Had to swap a faulty keypad in a house built in the 70s. The old wiring was stapled tight to a floor joist in the crawl space, with zero slack. Spent almost three hours on my back, carefully pulling staples and fishing new wire through a tiny gap. Finally got it connected and the system armed perfectly. Anyone else have a 'quick' job that ate up a whole afternoon because of old construction?

My uncle's 1960s ranch house had the phone lines stapled like that behind the baseboards. We had to pull the whole trim piece just to run a new cable for his internet. Old houses really hide their secrets in the worst spots.
