The machine learning model that corrected my mechanic instincts
Last month I ran a diagnostic script on my shop's fleet data, expecting it to flag worn brake pads, but it flagged a pattern of failed alternators in trucks from a specific 2019 batch. The model pinned it on a voltage regulator quirk I'd never noticed in 15 years of turning wrenches, and it saved me from replacing three good alternators for customers. Has anyone else had an AI tool point out a blind spot in their own hands-on experience, or do you still trust your gut over the data?

Whoa, hold on. You mean the computer caught a voltage regulator thing that you never saw in 15 years of doing this? That's wild. I've had plenty of machines throw codes that made zero sense, and I'd just ignore them and go with what my hands were telling me. But this is different, it found a specific pattern across a whole batch of trucks. That would genuinely shake me a little bit, like maybe my gut isn't as sharp as I thought it was.
