I was on the Pine Ridge Trail last weekend when I spotted a dog without an owner. It was muddy and looked lost, so I sat with it for a bit. Another hiker came by and we teamed up to find the owner using a local Facebook group. That got me thinking about how quick we are to help on trails, but not in my apartment building. I realized I don't even know the names of people living two doors down. Maybe it's time to start saying hello more often. Small acts like that can build a good sense of community.
