A cracked window during a storm made me question how sound moves

I always assumed sound speed was constant in air. When my window broke in a thunderstorm, I saw the flash before the noise. But the sound from the crack took extra time to reach me, bouncing off nearby buildings. This made me look up how temperature and pressure affect sound waves. Now I see it's more complex than just distance.
