Vent: That internet tip about using a hairdryer on stuck screws is B.S.

Hold up, is stripping screw heads really that common on old gear? I've worked on a few 80s receivers and never had a screw that bad. Maybe I got lucky but a drop of WD-40 and a tight fitting bit always did the trick for me. What are you people doing to these things to get them that stuck?

TIL I spent over 15 grand on HOA fines in 2 years before I even noticed

Leaving my trash bin out an extra day" got me lol. That's exactly the kind of petty stuff they nail you for. My HOA in Alpharetta hit me with $200 just for having my grass like half an inch too tall once, and I didn't even notice until they sent the letter. I bet half these fines are automated too so they just keep racking up without anyone actually checking first.

Is it worth spending $500 on a career coach? I'm torn here.

Did you try negotiating with the coach first? Tbh I used to think career coaching was a total waste, but after one helped me figure out my resume gaps I changed my mind completely.

Wasted $60 on a bokashi bin that just stank up my kitchen

Spent a whole weekend convincing myself that rotten pickle smell was actually "fermenting" and not just my kitchen slowly turning into a crime scene. The mold on the bran layer was the final sign that I'm just not cut out for this whole composting thing. I tried to salvage it by adding more sugar, thinking maybe the bacteria just needed a pep talk or something. Nope. Just made it smell like a sad, vinegary science experiment. Now I'm back to playing Tetris with frozen carrot peels in my tiny freezer, which at least doesn't make me gag every time I open the door.

My neighbor's night sky photo from last year vs this year is wild

Oh man, @the_hannah you're totally right that older streetlights were orange. The weird thing is some of these new LED lights actually have this awful orange tint too now. In my experience the town cheaped out and got the warm color temperature LEDs instead of the daylight white ones, so they glow like a pumpkin. I actually did a dumb thing and bought a light pollution filter for my camera lens that made everything look blue and muddy. Your mileage may vary but that orange haze in your neighbor's photo sounds exactly like what happened to my own backyard shots this summer. Take it with a grain of salt but I've noticed a huge difference just between spring and fall where I live too.
