Had to pick between a 4-inch and a 6-inch core barrel for a sandstone sample in central Utah. Went with the 4-inch.

Genuinely curious, is the core size that big of a deal for sandstone? It's not like you're drilling for oil. A 4-inch piece should show the layers and grain structure just fine. Seen plenty of solid papers use smaller samples from way harder rock. This feels like overthinking a basic field choice.

Had to choose between a stand mixer or a food processor for my new kitchen

Maybe try a cheap mini chopper for those small jobs?

My friend in Seattle said all pockets on women's pants are a design fail

Honestly, my phone is basically glued to my hand because my pockets are a joke. I bought these cute pants last week and the pocket is so shallow my house key just falls out if I sit down. Why do we accept this? I saw a pair of hiking pants with huge cargo pockets on the sides and I almost bought them just to feel the freedom. What's the most useless pocket you've ever had?

I finally gave up and paid a shop $120 to fix a simple brake squeal...

Yeah that bit about the online guides skipping the grease step is so true. I used to think squealing meant the pads were just cheap or worn out. But after reading what @lucas206 said, I tried the grease on the shims last time and it was dead quiet. It's crazy how such a small thing gets overlooked. Makes you wonder what other simple fixes we're all missing.

Hit 500 beard trims this quarter and honestly, I think the focus on speed is overrated.

Wait, is a five minute difference in a beard trim really that big of a deal? I mean, it's just hair, it grows back. Maybe some guys just like the vibe of a longer appointment.
