Back in the day on the Columbia River, we'd fight suction line clogs for hours.

An old captain showed me that a short blast of compressed air back through the line, not more water, would clear a jam in seconds. Anyone have a different fix for those stubborn gravel blockages?

Ever see a guy try to clear a clog with a pressure washer hose? My buddy did that once, thinking more force was the answer. He just made a rock-solid plug of mud and pea gravel about ten feet back. Took us half a day to rod that out. Sometimes the simple air trick is the only move that makes sense.

Read about a guy who tried that and ended up with a crack in his cast iron main line. The water hammer from the pressure washer just shifted the problem into a much bigger, much wetter one. It's a perfect example of how more power usually just means more problems.
