Had to choose between a stand mixer or a food processor for my new kitchen
My old hand mixer died last month, and I had a budget of $300 for a replacement. It came down to a KitchenAid stand mixer or a high-end Cuisinart food processor. I picked the stand mixer, thinking it would be better for my weekly bread and cookie batches. After two weeks, my cakes are fluffier, but I'm struggling with any recipe needing chopped nuts or fine crumbs. My last batch of carrot cake had huge walnut chunks because I had to chop them by hand. Has anyone else faced this and found a good workaround without buying another appliance?

Maybe try a cheap mini chopper for those small jobs?

Wait, a cheap one? Those things are a total trap. I bought a five dollar one to chop an onion and it just shot pieces all over my kitchen wall. The plastic blade snapped trying to get through a single garlic clove. It's not even worth the drawer space it takes up.
