My take on the Mandela Effect and old maps

Honestly, I was totally convinced Sicily was way further from the toe of Italy, like a decent boat ride away. I checked my old National Geographic from 1998 and it was basically touching it, same as now. Tbh our brains just smooth over the boring stuff like exact map distances. I keep a cheap current world atlas on my desk now just to settle these arguments with friends. It shuts down the "reality changed" talk real fast when you have the physical proof right there.

Just read a report from the NTSB about a 2022 incident at Denver International

We started a log for ground equipment faults (like that) after a similar issue.

A simple trick for painting trim that I was doing backwards

Wait, you were painting the WALL first? That's blowing my mind. I have to sit down. I've painted so much trim and I can't even picture doing it that way around. The whole point is you get a clean line by painting the trim color first because it's easier to cut the wall color in a straight line against it. My brain is short circuiting thinking about the mess I would make. You must have the patience of a saint to have done FIVE rooms like that.

Working on a Citation's autopilot in a hangar in Wichita, I finally got why torque specs matter.

I mean, "good and tight" has always worked for me though.

My uncle's comment about my shed foundation changed my whole approach

Maybe your uncle is being a bit too careful. A four foot level is a solid tool for a shed pad. Those small dips get taken up by the floor framing anyway. Renting a laser level seems like overkill for something that isn't a house foundation. Sometimes good enough is actually good enough.
