I had a customer bring in a TV that kept blinking on and off. Everyone jumps to replace the backlight, but I checked the power board first. Found a swollen capacitor, swapped it out in minutes. Now the TV works perfect, and the customer paid less. More repair folks need to stop assuming the worst and start with the basics.
