Our tool library in Bellingham had to choose between a membership fee or a deposit system
We voted on it at our last meeting, and we went with a $20 yearly fee instead of making people put down a $50 deposit per tool. It's been three months, and honestly, it's way easier to manage (I'm the one who updates the spreadsheet). But now we're struggling to get new people to join. Has anyone else's library found a good way to get the word out without spending a lot of money?

Honestly, I was totally against yearly fees at first. But seeing how much easier it is to run things now, I get it. Maybe try putting flyers up at the local hardware store, that's how we got a few new folks.

Flyers at the hardware store, huh? That's some old school recruiting. Next you'll be sending smoke signals or renting a billboard on the highway. I guess if it works, it works, but my HOA president tried that and we just got a bunch of flyers back with complaints written on them. What kind of glue do you even use for those things?
