My buddy Dave in Nampa did the same thing last spring, smeared a whole tube of DAP around his shower base and kept running his finger over it every few hours because he thought it looked messy. Three weeks later the whole edge pulled away from the tile when he leaned on it, water got behind there and he had to rip it all out. The guy at the hardware store told him the same thing, leave it alone, because the skin forms fast but the cure underneath takes a full day. Dave redid it in July and just left the house for the afternoon, and that one has been fine ever since.

Yeah that hits close to home. I did the same thing to a guy last summer who came in with a trailer rehab plan, cut him off mid sentence to tell him his tongue weight was gonna be wrong. Turns out he'd rebuilt three of them already. Now I just ask "what are you trying to end up with?" before I open my mouth about anything. Takes me ten extra seconds and saves me from looking like a know it all. That lady did you a favor, honestly.
