inI finally learned why you never leave foils in too long during a partial foil highlight
Lift a torch to my own hair and it'd probably run away from the color too, honestly... I once tried a demi-permanent at home and ended up with orange streaks that looked like a bad Halloween costume. But yeah, the babysitting part is so real - I set a timer for like 8 minutes and checked it, then every 2 minutes after, and it still got a little splotchy in some spots. I think the white sections just needed extra love, like a stubborn toddler who won't eat their veggies...

inAlways swore by a handsaw for pruning cuts... until I borrowed a Silky saw last week
Wait are we really acting like a fancy saw is some kind of life changing event?

inUsed to think power stretchers were overrated for small rooms, now I get it
Hand kicking works fine until it doesnt. That ripple near the door is the classic sign you need the power stretcher. Once I switched I started using it on every room no matter the size. The extra 5 minutes to set it up saves you from having to pull the whole room again later.

inCaught a neighbor's trick for cleaning a toaster without making a mess
@ellis.felix thats hilarious you mention the spray bottle for dusting, I just started doing that too. But your toaster trick beats my dumb life hack - I used a butter knife to pry out a stuck crumb tray last week and chipped the enamel off my counter. Guess I need to find Frank and ask for a pastry brush lesson. At this rate I'll be using a spatula to scoop cat litter next.

inTook a class at the local co-op and now I grease every single spoke nipple.
Built a wheel at the same co-op last spring. Thought the grease was a waste of time and just did a dry build. Wheel went out of true in about 100 miles. Went back, rebuilt it properly with grease on every nipple. That was six months ago and it's still dead true. The instructor told us the grease stops the nipple from binding on the spoke threads as you tension. Makes total sense now. I also picked up to always check the spoke line at the hub flange before tightening. Saves a ton of headache later. Grease is cheap, truing a wheel twice is not.
