Just realized post setting is way more important than I thought

That bit about skipping the tamping every 6 inches really hit home. It's just like how people rush through the small steps in anything, whether it's cooking or budgeting, then wonder why the whole thing falls apart later.

TIL I was ruining my own rasps by not cleaning them right

How long are you leaving them in the vinegar mix? I tried this with a couple old files I use for shaping wood and soaked them for about 20 minutes, but they came out with a weird crusty film on them that I had to scrub off. Might be the water to vinegar ratio you're using or maybe the steel is different on farrier rasps versus wood files. Curious if you're doing a specific mix like half and half or something more diluted.

I used to help my dad fix our old lawn mower every summer, and it felt right.

Yeah totally agree @miles_nguyen30, it's a real shame how they don't teach us that stuff.

The week I got three job offers and all of them fell apart by Friday

That's a real gut punch, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

A customer told me my alarm panel wires looked like spaghetti and I actually listened

Just take the L and move on, that's what I do. I've had a buddy call me out for how I load the dishwasher like a crazy person. It stung for a second but then I saw the logic in what he said. Now I actually set the forks and spoons the same way every time. It saves like 10 seconds of hassle later but it's wild how much calmer the kitchen feels.
