Update: I found a weird trick for freeing a stuck bleed valve on a Cessna 172 brake line

That trick with the brass punch... I see it differently. I've seen a guy crack a valve body doing that exact thing on an old Cherokee. It let go and we had to replace the whole caliper. Sometimes you just have to walk away and get a new part.

Talked to a guy at the library book sale in Springfield last weekend

Oh man, that's the best strategy! I once found a perfectly good bookshelf just sitting by the dumpster.

Backup encryption for my woodworking plans feels excessive

Yeah but that's the thing, it's not just about the password. If your whole cloud account gets popped, they can reset passwords, lock you out, and turn off alerts before you even know. Encryption on your own machine means they get a bunch of useless scrambled files, even with full account access. The hassle of decrypting feels tiny when you picture someone actually having all your stuff.

I watched three neighbors over-tighten their quick-release levers

Maybe it's just me, but I've never had an issue from tightening them down good. My levers have always felt more secure that way.

Honestly just read that some AI image generators now use a 'negative prompt' weight system and it blew my mind

Exactly, it's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg. The real problem is the models are just matching patterns from their training data, not actually building a mental picture of a hand. That's why they keep making the same weird mistakes no matter how many times you ask.
