A speedrunner in a Twitch chat called my crash route lazy and it fixed 3 bugs I never saw
I kept falling through the floor near the old mill in that game, dying about 4 times a run, so I dropped into a small streamer's chat with 40 viewers and complained. Someone there said my route skipped a load zone on purpose and that the game was drawing the ground before the wall was ready, so I slowed down at that one corner and the falling stopped cold. Is there a spot in your game where going slower actually saves you a respawn?
Did you ever figure out why the wall needed time to load, or was the fix just "walk here, don't run"? I had the same thing happen in a platformer where clipping through a fence after a fast jump landed me in the void every single time. A guy in a Discord server told me to stop mid-jump near the fence and let the camera catch up, and the clipping just stopped. It felt so dumb to slow down in a speed game, but losing a run to a respawn costs way more than a half second of walking. Now I always test the slow version of a route first before I trust it.
