The muffler guy on 3rd Street told me to replace the whole exhaust system but I went with a patch kit instead.

Yeah, "slap in the face" is right, @clairebaker. I tried a cheap fix on my truck's transmission once, and it ended up costing triple what the real repair would have been six months later. Never again.

PSA: lost a whole layer file because I didn't flatten before saving

30 amps on my panel is enough to nuke everything past the second floor.

Just overheard someone say their air fryer caught fire from too much oil buildup

Oh man, that's the stuff of nightmares right there. I'm the guy who sets the fire alarm off every time I toast a bagel too dark, so I'd probably just let the whole place burn down and blame it on the air fryer. My cleaning routine is basically "peek inside, see a crumb, close the door and pretend it's fine." I had this one time where I found a dried up french fry from three months ago stuck under the basket, like a fossil. So yeah, I'm definitely learning from your buddy's mistake before I end up roasting my apartment instead of my wings.

Overheard a wholesaler say they stopped using those cheap buckets for roses after 3 batches got bent necks

OH MAN, you had a whole stack go sideways? That is literally my NIGHTMARE. I tried stacking cans once and they started rolling off like they were mad at me. Did you lose any good jars or just have to spend 20 minutes picking up a mess on the floor? I feel like one bad domino effect can ruin your whole kitchen vibe for the day. I bet you had to do a full inventory check after that disaster.

Am I the only one who thinks AI tools are getting worse at basic math?

Oh man, that's a good point but I gotta push back a little. The math wasn't great three years ago either, people just weren't testing it as hard. Those early models could choke on anything past two digits if you changed the wording around. What you're probably seeing is the difference between a model that's been trained to talk like a human versus one that was just a straight calculator. Chatbots today try to show their work or explain "why" tips matter, which is where they go off the rails. They're not worse at math, they're just distracted by their own chatter.
