inSwitched from straw to pine shavings for the coop floor...
Oh gosh, I switched to sand and my chickens looked at me like I was nuts...

inWent to Carlsbad Caverns last month and the formations looked different than I remembered
Oh man, I noticed the exact same thing at Mammoth Cave a few years back! When I went as a kid in the 90s, the formations looked all glossy and alive, but the second time around they seemed faded and almost dusty in spots. A guide there told me it is normal from all the oils and stuff we track in, plus the air gets drier with so many people breathing on everything. They actually clean some areas sometimes, but it is a losing battle with that many visitors.

inHit 200 commercial dives last month in the Gulf and still can't get over how fast the bottom time slips away once you're past 100 feet
Hell yeah, I've been there. Had a buddy who swore his dive computer was haunted because it said he did a 40 minute deco stop but he only checked it twice. Tell you what, if your log doesn't match your memory, check your computer's battery and make sure it's set to the right mode for fresh or salt water. Also, if you're doing multiple dives in a day and not tracking surface intervals right, the computer will pile on time you don't feel. But honestly, some days your brain just checks out and the numbers are what they are.

inTried a new way to plan my route in the Smokies last fall and it saved me a full day
Found an old logging road in Olympic National Park last year that did the same thing. It wasn't on the main map, just a faint line on a digital topo layer. Shaved a brutal 2,000 foot climb off our second day. Those old routes are total game changers. You just have to be ready for some bushwhacking.
