Pro tip: stop lubing lug studs, I had to cut a wheel off a Corolla last week because of it
Guy came in with a seized lug after his buddy told him 'a little anti seize keeps em from rusting.' We had to torch it off in the bay, and the stud stretched so bad the torque wrench never clicked. Anyone else have a customer story where a 'helpful' tip made your job way harder?
Learned this the hard way back when I was younger and thought a dab of grease on studs was just good sense. Then I had a Malibu where the owner did all four wheels that way and every single lug nut came off way under spec, like 60 ft-lbs when they should've been 100. The threads were so slick the nut backed off on its own over a few thousand miles, which is way scarier than a stuck one. Now I tell people dry threads and clean studs, every time, no exceptions.
