inThat weld I did last Tuesday cracked clean in half overnight
Man that's rough, I feel for you. Damp rods are the worst when you're trying to get a clean weld done. Hope you get it sorted out without too much hassle.

inBusted my tailgate trying to haul a fort to a friend's house last weekend
Strapped mine down with twine once thinking it'd hold. Watched the whole thing slide off my truck bed going 45 mph. That cardboard corner trick is smart, I've been using old pool noodles cut in half to cushion the edges. Wish I'd known about sections sooner, would've saved me a angry call to a neighbor whose fence got wrecked.

inPro tip: ditch the chef's knife for a yanagiba on sashimi prep
You know what, I used to be one of those guys who swore by a yanagiba for everything... thought it made me look more like a real sushi chef or something. But last summer I helped my buddy break down a 50 pound tuna for a backyard BBQ and I grabbed my chef's knife out of habit halfway through. It just felt faster and I didn't have to keep switching blades every time I hit a bone or a joint. Honestly you changed my mind on this one... I'll stick with my chef's knife for the heavy lifting from now on.

inRoman fort was way smaller than I assumed
Wait they actually had NO space to move around in those things? Thats crazy to think about with how much gear they had to carry everywhere they went. Bet they had to time their breathing just to avoid elbowing each other in the face constantly.

inAccidentally saved my kimchi with a dirty dish towel
I mean, @the_abby, it's not really cross contamination in the bad sense since that garlic was already on the towel from being clean and dry, just with a leftover smell. It's more like a happy accident with your ferment getting a little bonus flavor from the fabric.
