Hit 200 covers solo last Saturday and almost walked out

200 covers is a lot of cash for one night, but it might be worth taking a step back. Working that many tables often means the restaurant is incredibly busy, which can also mean the tips are bigger than usual. Maybe the issue isn't the line of work itself, but the place you're doing it. A good gig with solid support staff makes a world of difference.

Spent $600 on a sewer scope inspection... saved me from a $15k nightmare

Six hundred bucks just for a look down a pipe, that's insane.

Learning to use a debugger ruined print statements for me

Wait, did you really spend 3 days fighting with breakpoints? That's dedication. Once I got past that first week of frustration, the debugger clicked for me too and I stopped feeling bad about ditching print statements.

Hit 1,000 days of daily journaling and it feels like a scam or a win depending on the day

yeah @the_sean you're totally onto something there. i did the whole 365 day streak thing for a while and by month 3 it was just me writing "nothing new today" over and over to keep the number going. it's like the habit becomes the point instead of whatever you were trying to get out of it. what actually helped me was setting a rule that if i skip a day i have to write a real entry the next day no excuses. that way the break feels intentional and you actually check in with yourself instead of just feeding a counter.

Cowhide vs. book cloth on a restoration job - huge mistake

Kinda makes me feel better about the time I grabbed the wrong tube of glue and accidentally stuck my coffee mug to my workbench for a week. At least your mistake had a fix that didn't involve chiseling ceramic off wood.
