The neighbor who insists on grinding beans for espresso an hour ahead of time
I live in a duplex near downtown Portland and the guy next door grinds his espresso beans around 6:30 AM, then waits until 7:30 to actually pull his shot. I asked him about it once and he said it helps the flavors bloom. Man, by 45 minutes those grounds are just stale dust losing all the oils. I measured it once with my VST basket and got 2 grams less retention from fresh grind. Does anyone else have a coffee ritual neighbor who drives them nuts with bad habits?
