inDebate: Did spending $250 on a premium antivirus actually save my cousin from a ransomware attack or was it just pure luck?
Yeah @vera_sanchez basically nailed it. I've been using just Windows Defender for like 5 years now and the only time I got malware was when I downloaded a fake Spotify crack. Paid antivirus is just paying for extra headaches honestly.

inHot steel flew off my anvil and landed in my boot
Made my eye twitch just reading that, I once melted a hole clean through my favorite sneakers doing the exact same dance.

inThe week I tried to fix my derailleur without a stand
Man that's rough. It's actually weird how much we tolerate uncomfortable setups just to avoid spending a little money. Reminds me of how people will stand in the kitchen cutting veggies on a wobbly counter instead of just fixing the leg. Or how I used to use a crappy plastic spatula that bent every time I flipped eggs until it finally snapped. Three hours crouched on grass is exactly the kind of stubborn self-reliance that seems normal until you realize a block of wood or a cheap stand would have saved your back and half the time.

inAfter 8 years of making kimchi I finally realized my salt was way off
You finally realized" is putting it mildly... I see it totally different though. Measuring salt by weight with a scale feels like overcomplicating something that's worked for centuries. My grandmother never measured a thing and her kimchi was amazing. I'm not saying exact measurements are bad, but I've been making it by feel and taste for over a decade and it's always turned out fine. Sometimes you just gotta trust your instincts in the kitchen instead of turning it into a science experiment.

inDid my old boss actually know what he was talking about with flower food?
Add a drop of vodka to tulip water, keeps them standing upright longer.
