Did you end up winning that argument for the boots @carter.hugo?

inDating a Roman layer in York took 6 months longer than my supervisor budgeted for
Geez, that sounds like a nightmare. I had a similar thing happen with a site near Hadrian's Wall where some imported Samian ware looked local and sent us on a wild goose chase for months. What finally helped was checking the soil chemistry around the sherds for any unusual trace elements that could tell us where they really came from.

inOld salvage diver told me I was diving too fast on that wreck in the Gulf... he had a point
The "getting the job done fast" mindset is usually what blows a dive profile in the first place, not the other way around.

inQuestion about using compressed air on bearings, did I mess up?
I did basically the same thing with a motorcycle wheel bearing a few years back and ended up packing grease deeper into the rollers just like you described. @harris.emma is right that solvent soak is the way to go, I switched to letting bearings sit in a jar of mineral spirits overnight and it works way better than air ever did. Your bearing is probably okay if you flush it out properly now and check for any roughness by hand before reinstalling.

inFixed my stuck front door with a candle stub and a butter knife
Did your buddy strip the screws on an old cabinet too? My friend Mike tried the wax trick on a dresser that was wobbling like crazy, and three days later the drawer fell off and cracked his toe. He spent a whole Saturday drilling out the old holes and jamming toothpicks with wood glue in there to get a fresh grip.
