My old foreman in Gary told me to gap my tube ends at 3/32 and it saved the boiler
He told me that trick 12 years ago on a firetube job in Gary and I finally used it on a retube in Fort Wayne where the tubes were walking on me, and after the hydro there wasn't one leak, so what gap do you all run on a 2 inch tube?
Ran 1/8 on a 2 inch retube last spring and it worked fine for me, no walking and no leaks at hydro. But we were rolling them in cold and the holes were tight, so the gap was mostly there to let the tube move a hair when it heated up. If yours are walking on you, bumping to 3/32 sounds about right for giving them room to breathe.
