Why I still offer straight razor shaves when every other shop in my area dropped them

Honestly, good for you. That slow, careful work is what turns a basic haircut into a real service. So many places just rush people through now, and it shows. You're right that taking your time actually builds a better business. People remember how you make them feel, not just how fast you get the job done.

My coworker's hanging planter suggestion was a total win for my balcony

What made your coworker suggest hooks instead of other vertical options, and did she show you her own balcony first? Seeing a real setup can really help you picture it working. I wonder if those cheap hooks are strong enough for wet soil and full grown plants. Have you checked them regularly to make sure they're still secure? What's your backup plan if one fails?

Just finished wiring my home office and realized how vulnerable my IoT devices are

You're right to change those default passwords, but that's just the START. Lots of IoT gadgets have other weak spots like old software or factory settings that are easy to guess. Putting all those smart things on a separate guest network really helps if one gets hacked. It's extra work, but skipping that leaves you open even with strong passwords. My cousin's smart plug got weird commands from strangers because he never updated it. True security needs layers, not just a single good lock.

I traced the creek's algae bloom to our mortar washout

honestly i used to brush off stuff like that, thinking it just soaked into the dirt and that was that. reading how the lime adds phosphorus straight to the water really flipped a switch for me. it's wild how something so normal on a job site can mess up a whole creek. the risk of fines is one thing, but killing fish because we didn't take an extra hour to set up a pit? that's just bad practice. totally changed how i handle washout now.
