Grow local scobys to reduce shipping pollution.

Mailed a scoby to a friend in Chicago last month using just a priority mail envelope. It cost like five bucks and went with their daily run. I reuse packing materials from other boxes, so it's basically zero waste. If you're really stressed about it, you can grow a new culture from a bottle of raw kombucha. Takes a couple weeks but no shipping at all. Most brewers I know share locally when they can, which cuts down on mail stuff.

A potluck surprise with my bubbly sourdough starter had me seeing wild yeast in a new light.

Wait, it actually escaped the jar? That stuff gets everywhere, like a science experiment gone wrong. The smell must have been something else. Cleaning dried starter is the worst, it's like glue. Bet the party got real interesting after that.

Changing my mind on password managers after a close call with identity theft

Three people at my gym fell for phishing links this year. One guy lost his Netflix account to a fake login page. So @nathanburns, your buddy getting saved by his password manager? That's a win. Isn't it wild how convincing these scams are now? I keep telling my friends to use managers, but they think it's too much work. Guess we all need that extra layer of protection, huh?

Serious question, did your grandma ever point out quartz in driveway gravel?

About picking out the milky white pieces, I see it differently. Looking so hard at the ground makes me miss the trees and sky above. I'd rather just enjoy the walk without hunting for things to keep.

My friend's client had a bad allergic reaction to hair dye yesterday

Was the reaction immediate or did it take time to develop? Delayed responses like Brooke mentioned can trick you into thinking you're safe. That's why a full 48-hour patch test is non-negotiable for me.
