A potluck surprise with my bubbly sourdough starter had me seeing wild yeast in a new light.

Right, because nothing says "good time" like cleaning crusted flour glue off a table instead of actually socializing. Fermentation fails are only fun if you're not the one scrubbing dough out of the cracks. If the starter is that active, maybe keep it on a tray or in a bigger jar so the "surprise" doesn't wreck your whole party vibe.

Wait, it actually escaped the jar? That stuff gets everywhere, like a science experiment gone wrong. The smell must have been something else. Cleaning dried starter is the worst, it's like glue. Bet the party got real interesting after that.

oh man, did you find a way to clean it up? i had that happen once and a mix of vinegar and hot water was the only thing that cut through the gunk.
