inHot take: that guy at the bike co-op who told me to stop using WD-40 on my chain was totally wrong
Switched to a Teflon based lube after my shop guy yelled at me about WD-40 and my chain lasted way longer before stretching out. @the_brian the real problem was WD-40 is a degreaser not a lubricant, so it actually stripped all the factory grease off the rollers. Now I just use the $8 bottle of Finish Line stuff and it works way better in wet weather too.

inOverheard a site inspector say my crane's load chart was outdated and I had to redo a whole lift in St. Louis last Friday
Right before the foreman walked over I tried to act like I was making a crucial safety call. He still made me show him the load chart on my phone and everything.

inUnpopular opinion: Those ultralight backpacking chairs are a total scam for most people
Heard a gear reviewer say the same thing @elizabeththomas. They're overpriced dirt anchors.

inTIL you can actually negotiate the realtor commission, not just the house price
Wow, it's wild how everything in life is negotiable if you just ask, isn't it? I swear with car repairs and even phone bills people just accept the first price all the time. It's like we're trained not to push back but then a realtor casually drops their fee and it makes you wonder what else you could haggle on.

inMy compost bin lid cracked in the heatwave last August
Did you try painting the lid white or covering it with something reflective before it cracked? I've seen folks in Arizona wrap their bins in an old reflective windshield shade to keep the plastic from getting brittle in that direct sun. Curious if your bin was in full sun all day or if it had some shade from a wall or tree that just wasn't enough.
