My neighbor's tape advice for stacking boxes sounded lazy until my tower fell over at 2am
I always figured folding the flaps in tight was plenty, but Rick from across the street kept saying to run a strip of tape across every seam or my walls would bow. After my 40-box castle in the garage folded in on itself last Tuesday, I tried his way and it held up through a whole weekend of my kids climbing on it. So how many rolls is normal for one fort, because I burned through 3 already?
Your neighbor Rick is spot on and I learned the hard way too! I built a box tunnel for my two boys last summer and skipped the tape on the seams because I figured the flaps were doing the job. It caved in the same night and they were so bummed. Now I tape every single seam and the forts last through weeks of jumping and crawling. Three rolls for 40 boxes sounds about right to me, maybe even a little low if you go heavy on the corners. Grab the wide packing tape if you can, the thin stuff just peels off when the kids yank on it.
