Noticed a big change at my local park after they added rain gardens

I walk my dog at Riverside Park in Portland every morning. About 6 months ago, they put in these rain gardens along the lower path to catch runoff. Now after a heavy rain, the trail doesn't flood anymore and the mud is gone. Has anyone else seen these installed in their area and noticed a difference?

Small win today on a tricky L-shaped hallway install

I was laying luxury vinyl plank in this narrow L-shaped hallway in an old house near downtown Austin. The walls were way out of square and I kept fighting with my spacers. Finally stopped and cut a custom cardboard template for the turn, saved me from ripping out three crooked rows. Has anyone else ditched the measuring tape and gone straight to templates for tight spots?

Spent an entire afternoon chasing a ground issue on a 2018 F-150

I had this F-150 come in last Tuesday where the passenger tail light was acting weird. It would work fine for 10 minutes then just go dark. Pulled the wiring diagram, checked fuses, swapped the bulb, nothing. Ended up chasing the ground wire all the way back to the frame rail and found a factory ground strap that was corroded nearly in half. Took me 4.5 hours to find something that should have been a 20 minute fix. Has anyone else run into those hidden ground points that just eat up your whole day?

Then my neighbor who's had chickens for 20 years told me to just dust the nesting boxes and dust bath with food-grade diatomaceous earth every 2 weeks. Haven't seen a single mite since I started that routine in July, and my 6 hens actually stopped losing feathers. Has anyone else had luck with DE or did you find something better for a small 4x6 coop?

Showerthought: Why do we still use weight belts in 2025?

I was on a job off the coast of Galveston last month, 60 feet down repairing a pipeline anchor, and my weight belt came loose. Spent 15 minutes fighting it while my air was dropping. We have dry suits with integrated weight systems, harnesses with pockets, but half the guys I know still swear by the old belt. Why are we not all using the integrated systems? Has anyone else had a close call with a belt slipping? I am thinking of switching for good but want to hear what you all run.
