Overheard a bookkeeper in Denver say most small biz owners pay for software they never open
I was waiting on a coffee order in Denver last month and two bookkeepers at the table next to me were trading stories about client accounts. One of them said something like "we bill for cleanup every quarter because they're paying for three tools and only opening one." That stuck with me because I run a two person lawn care setup and I'm pretty sure I'm doing the same thing. I counted up my subscriptions that night and found $212 a month going out across invoicing, scheduling, and a payroll app I log into maybe twice. Honestly the scheduling one does all the heavy lifting already, I just never went back and cut the extra stuff after a busy spring. I pulled the plug on the other two the next day and moved that money toward a part timer's hours instead. Has anyone else gone through their monthly services and found out they were basically donating to a software company?
