inUnpopular take: those career change bootcamps are mostly a waste of money
I saw some article that said bootcamps are basically gambling with your savings now. One place was advertising a 90% job placement rate but when you look at the fine print they count people who got any job at all even if it's not in tech. It's shady as hell honestly. That 4 out of 40 number is rough but sadly it's pretty normal from what I've been hearing from people. Someone in another thread said their bootcamp had a "career services" person who basically just told them to put the bootcamp name on their resume and start applying which is basically what you can do for free. It's a real shame because I know some people legit want to learn but the whole system is set up to take money first and hope for the best later.

inChanged my mind about light pollution filters after visiting the McDonald Observatory in west Texas last month
You said "standing under that Bortle 2 sky showed me what I was missing" and that really hit home. I remember one time I drove three hours out to a dark sky park with my old DSLR and a cheap clip-in filter, and I spent the whole night fighting with clouds and forgetting extra batteries. But man, what I got back was worth it. Those filters can actually cut through some of the orange glow if you're not in the worst part of the city, they're just not magic for light domes on the horizon.

Bro I passed on a stack of early Spawns once. Still haunts me.

inHad a day last month where every game I taught clicked on the first try
Nah, I gotta disagree. That sounds like beginner's luck or maybe you were just playing really simple games. Any time I've had a "perfect" teaching session, it's because the players were already experienced with similar games.

inRant: Overheard a guy at the scrap yard in Toledo say 'close enough' on a load of 6061... that's how bad pours happen.
Avery_stone95 is right, I learned that lesson the hard way too.
