Tried using that new high-temp thread sealant on a boiler feed line, and it basically turned to dust after a week.

Yikes, that's rough. I've had the exact opposite happen, honestly. Used the white Permatex high temp stuff on a steam line years ago and it's still holding. You sure it was rated for the actual service temperature? Some of those "high temp" labels are pretty optimistic.

I always thought those little suction cup handles were just for show

The cheap ones can actually be dangerous if they fail. I learned to check the rubber for any tiny cracks or dry rot before trusting it with heavy glass. A little water or glass cleaner on the cup makes a huge difference for the initial seal too.

Found a weird way to keep my coal fire hot longer without using more fuel

Packing a ring of damp clay" is such a smart fix. I would have just stood there staring at the fire getting cold, like an idiot. Do you think regular dirt would work, or does it have to be clay?

My cousin in Denver warned me about a weird 5G rumor last year

Correlation doesn't mean cause, man. Headaches are super common. Three people on a whole block could easily get them from stress, bad sleep, or seasonal allergies. It's a classic case of looking for a pattern after hearing a scary story. The science on 5G is pretty clear it's safe at these power levels. You ever notice how these rumors pop up every time a new tech rolls out?

My old truck's heater hose blew out in the middle of a grocery run

Oh good call @theaellis, that's the first place they usually split. I always run my finger along the whole length too, feeling for any soft or bulging spots. The rubber can get weak there from all the bending.
