I always thought those little suction cup handles were just for show

Had to move a big piece of 1/2 inch tempered glass for a shower door yesterday. My grip slipped on the edge and it almost went over. My buddy grabbed it and said, "Use the cup, man!" I put the handle on and it was like night and day, so much more control. Anyone have a favorite brand of those handles that really sticks?

The cheap ones can actually be dangerous if they fail. I learned to check the rubber for any tiny cracks or dry rot before trusting it with heavy glass. A little water or glass cleaner on the cup makes a huge difference for the initial seal too.

Honestly @caleb_coleman88 makes a great point about checking the rubber. But has anyone thought about how you store the thing? Tbh leaving it in a hot car or a damp garage seems to rot the suction cup way faster than normal use. I ruined a decent one that way in just one summer. Ngl it's not just about buying a good one, it's about not cooking it between jobs. That heat makes the material brittle so it'll crack under pressure when you need it most.
