Just realized how much heat damage happens below 300 degrees
Honestly, I was reading a study from the Journal of Cosmetic Science last week. It said that hair protein starts to change at just 230 degrees Fahrenheit, not the 350 I always thought was the safe limit. I found it when I was looking up why a client's hair felt gummy after flat ironing. Now I double-check my tool temps on every client with a heat-sensitive strand test first. Has anyone else adjusted their heat styling routine because of this?

Yeah, I saw a thing about how even blow dryers can get hot enough to cause that kind of damage.

Makes you wonder what other "safe" limits we're wrong about. Feels like half of what we know is just waiting for a better study to come along.
