I finally gave in and tried thinning shears after 10 years of avoiding them

70 year old barber in Tacoma talked me into trying an old-school straight razor for detailing after I swore them off for years. I was dead wrong about them being unnecessary, he showed me how it actually gives a cleaner line and respects the hair better than clippers for certain textures. Sometimes you just gotta admit the old heads know a thing or two that the internet tutorials miss.

My sauerkraut batch turned into weird slime after 3 days on the counter

Oh man, that exact same thing happened to me on my third batch ever... I was so excited to try homemade kraut and then bam, slime city. I felt like I wasted a whole head of cabbage and it was super frustrating. What finally worked for me was using a smaller jar that fit the cabbage tighter, and then I put a ziplock bag filled with brine right on top to weigh it all down. That kept everything under the liquid and I haven't had the slime issue since... just gotta make sure no floaters are poking up.

My friend swore I needed to watch this old British crime show from 2008

Yeah that's exactly how I ended up watching The Shield.

The difference a curing blanket makes is night and day

Honestly, that's wild. I tried a trick I saw on some YouTube channel where they just set a sprinkler on mist over the slab and it worked pretty decent, but I bet the blanket keeps the moisture way more even.

Question about a fiber splice enclosure I saw on a job in Austin last week

Oh come on, is it really that bad? I've seen tight slack before and it's annoying but a full re-splice sounds like a stretch. You can usually work with it if you're careful.
