Half the comic fans I meet pronounce 'Asterix' wrong... and it bugs me
I was at a comic shop in Cleveland last week and three different people said 'aster-icks' instead of 'aster-ix' when talking about the Gaul. The character is literally named after an asterisk, not a tick. It seems like a small thing, but if you read the books for 30 years, it jumps out every time. I think newer fans just hear it said wrong on YouTube reviews and repeat it. Am I being too picky about pronunciation, or does it matter to get the names right? Anyone else notice common mispronunciations in comic circles?
