In my old D&D group two years ago, I earned the nickname 'The Avoidance Queen' for how I handled fights. Your post @nathanr87 totally reminds me of that! I was so proud of keeping peace that I didn't see I was just putting a lid on a boiling pot. It meant the same stupid arguments about rule calls came back every single game night. I learned the hard way that smoothing things over without fixing the root issue just stores up drama for later. Now I try to be calm but also push for real talk, even if it gets messy for a bit.
