Used a new flexible rod system on a tight flue in a 1920s bungalow.

The rods got stuck on a weird offset I couldn't see from below. Had to spend an extra hour and a half carefully working them back out. Anyone know a better way to scope out those hidden angles before you send the brush up?

The clerk just stared for a second before asking for the model number. Update: I tried that trick with the heat gun on a tempered pane and it didn't crack... it just got weirdly soft.
