inDebate: Should we flush cooling systems on a strict schedule or only when there's a problem?
Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, 350,000 miles without a flush on that C15 sounds like it did fine for a long time before it finally gave out. Seems like a lot of shops just push the schedule to sell more service work when the real issue is usually bad coolant or a part that just wore out.

inMy first git push accidentally went to the main branch at 3am
Pulled a similar all nighter a few months back and pushed a broken CSS file to production. Site looked like a 90s GeoCities page for a solid 15 minutes. What saved me was having a local backup of the previous version I could force push back to main. I learned to always do a quick git log and grab the last good commit hash before pushing anything after midnight. Setting up a pre push hook that checks your branch name also stops this from happening again. Now I keep a sticky note on my laptop that says 'check branch dummy' in big red letters.

inHad a client tell me his computer was making a "humming noise" and it turned out to be a dying PSU fan
I mean, is it really that serious though? Half the time that "bad" fan noise is just dust or a wire barely touching the blade and it runs fine for years.

inCoworker told me I was tracking my "emergency fund" wrong and it hurt but I fixed it
Totally feel that. I had the same thing happen with my "emergency fund" that was just sitting in my PayPal balance for like two years. I thought I was being smart but really I was just letting inflation eat away at it while I kept pulling from it for random stuff. Moving it to a separate account where I can't see the balance every day is the only reason it actually stays untouched now. Are you finding it easier to just leave the money alone now?

inWasted $200 on a rubber roof patch kit that failed after 2 months on my shed
It's crazy how much that prep work matters for everything, not just roofing. I tried fixing a crack in my driveway last summer and skipped the wire brush step, just cleaned it with a hose and let it dry. That patch was peeling up within a month. It's like painting a wall without sanding it first, the new stuff just never bonds right. People always want to skip to the actual fix because it feels productive, but the boring cleaning part is what makes it last. Same with changing your oil, gotta let it drain completely before you put the new stuff in.
