My French press was making muddy coffee for months until I tried the Hoffmann method.

Oh HOLD on, I gotta jump in here. The waiting is definitely a HUGE part of it, but the spoon trick is NOT just about breaking the crust. See, that spoon scrape along the sides right after you pour the water actually stirs up the grinds that are stuck to the glass walls. If you skip that step, a bunch of those bigger bits never get fully submerged and they just float there not extracting properly. Then when you press, those loose bits get mixed in with the nice clean brew. I did it wrong for like a week before I watched his video again and realized I was being lazy with the spoon part. You gotta do BOTH the spoon swirl AND the four minute wait, not just one or the other.

After 6 months of spray lubes I finally switched to wax for my chain

Tried wax once and spent 20 minutes picking my chain off the floor" - wait what? Ngl that actually sounds like you used some weird glue or something. Tbh wax should just drip off if you're doing the dipping method right, not turn into a sticky mess on the floor. Honestly I've never had that problem with wax, I just dip it in the hot wax, let it drip for a second, then hang it up to cool. Maybe you used too much or it was still too hot when you took it out? That 20 minutes thing sounds crazy to me though. I get better grip and cleaner drivetrain every time.

Took a tour of the old ironworks downtown and noticed their sand mix setup

We dropped to 7% at our shop last year and it cut our scab rate by nearly half on the big stuff. Just watch your green strength when you first change it over.

I finally realized I was using password managers wrong for like 3 years

That "stared at his screen" bit got me, @angela_kelly. I actually read this article about Gen Z kids who refused to use password managers because they thought auto-fill was a security risk. They were literally writing down 20 character passwords on sticky notes instead. Made me wonder how many people are out there doing things the hard way without knowing there's an easier option.

The night I dropped a whole tray of 40 lamb chops during service

Did you get any grease on your shoes that stained them forever? I mean, that sounds like such a nightmare but honestly, you saved it in 20 minutes which is pretty impressive. Sometimes those push-through moments make the best stories after the shift is over.
