inMy brother told me to check the license plate on a blue Honda Civic in my neighborhood
Yeah the "way more likely" part is so true. Our brains are just bad at keeping track of normal stuff. I see it all the time with people swearing they turned the stove off, or that they definitely locked the door. We jump to wild ideas because the simple truth, that we just forgot, feels too boring. It's way easier to believe in a glitch than to admit our memory is kinda messy.

inMy old boss told me to never trust a 'no power' diagnosis at face value
Oh man, that's a solid one. My version was "always check the cheap stuff first." Had a desktop with constant blue screens. Everyone was pointing at the RAM or the drive. Boss told me to swap the CMOS battery before anything else. A three dollar fix. The corrupted BIOS time was causing all sorts of weird memory errors.

inCan we talk about those peel and stick backsplash tiles?
Wait, you spent $120 on those things? That's way more than I thought they'd cost. I almost bought some for my bathroom but backed out because the reviews were so bad. People said they bubbled up near the sink from the steam, or just slid right off the wall after a few days. Sounds like you got the full, sticky experience.

inTrying to figure out the watch order for the Fate series cost me a whole weekend
Actually telling people to start with Fate/Zero is a huge disservice, it spoils major twists for the entire Stay Night story. That flowchart your friend saw exists for a real reason, because the routes build on each other. Jumping straight to the prequel ruins the mystery and character development the main series is built around. The watch order chaos is annoying, but it comes from trying to protect the intended experience. Just watching the 2006 version first, even with its flaws, sets up the world better than starting with the end of the story.
