Unpopular opinion: a $5 putty knife beats any fancy scraper I've ever bought
I tried a bunch of those 'multi-tool' scrapers with the fancy handles and replaceable blades, spent like $30 on one last year. The blade always gets stuck or the handle feels wrong. Grabbed a basic 1.5 inch putty knife from the hardware store for a drywall patch and ended up using it for everything. It scrapes paint, cleans grills, spreads glue, and pries open lids without bending. After 6 months of daily use, the edge is still fine. Why do we overcomplicate such a simple tool? What's your favorite cheap tool that does way more than it should?

My dad's old metal paint can opener lives in my kitchen drawer now. I used to laugh at him using it for everything, but I get it now. That thing pries lids, scores drywall, scrapes burnt pans, and even works as a tiny flathead screwdriver in a pinch. It cost nothing and outlasts all my single-use gadgets.

Totally get this. The cheap 5-in-1 painter's tool is my absolute go-to. That thing scrapes windows, opens cans, sets nails, and cleans mud out of boot treads. It's been bouncing around my toolbox for a decade and still works like new. Fancy tools are fun to look at, but the simple stuff just gets the job done without any fuss.
