Vent: My chain snapped on the Burke Gilman Trail last Tuesday

I was about 8 miles from home when it happened, right near Gas Works Park. I had to walk the bike back, but I had a spare quick link in my bag so I fixed it in my garage that night. Has anyone else had a Shimano chain fail early, maybe around 1,200 miles?

Honestly, that walk back from Gas Works sounds brutal. Tbh I've seen a lot of posts lately about Shimano chains not making it past the first thousand miles, feels like their quality control has slipped. My buddy's gave out at like 900 miles on a brand new 105 groupset. Makes you wonder if they're cutting corners to keep up with demand.

Ever notice how everything feels a bit more disposable lately? I see it with gear like this, and @burns.sage is smart to pack those extra links. Makes you wonder what else we're just accepting as normal now.

Yeah, nathanh75 is right... always carry two quick links.
