Just lost $200 on a coworking space that was nothing like the photos

Booked a month in a Chiang Mai spot that looked amazing online, but the wifi was so bad I couldn't even join a video call. The 'fast fiber' they advertised was basically dial-up speed. Ended up having to buy a local SIM and work from cafes, which cost even more. Anyone know a good way to check real internet speeds before you book a place?

Ugh, that's the worst. I read a blog post once where a guy said he started asking places for a screenshot of a speed test, like from speedtest.net, taken that same day. Just asking for "the wifi speed" lets them lie, but a picture with a timestamp is harder to fake. Some places actually sent it, and you could tell which ones to avoid right away. It's not a perfect system, but it filters out the obvious liars. Might be worth trying next time.

Love that idea... forces them to put their money where their mouth is.
