Upgraded from a blade grinder to a burr grinder last month. Huge difference in my pour over.
Was using a $20 blade grinder for two years. Coffee was always bitter or sour. Got a Baratza Encore. First cup I made had actual sweetness and clarity. Should have done this sooner. Anyone else notice a big jump going from cheap grinder to something decent?

Did you have to dial in your grind setting right away or did it take a few tries?

Honestly, is it really that big of a deal though? I went from a blade grinder to a cheap hand grinder and barely noticed a difference until I spent like three weeks dialing it in, and even then I'm not convinced the coffee tastes that much better. @maxpalmer, I think a lot of the hype around gear is just people convincing themselves their money was well spent, but if you're already making good water temp and technique, the grinder might not matter as much as everyone says.
