Those plastic bollards saved me too, but they only work if people actually leave em up. I've watched crews pull them for a single event and forget to put em back for like a week. Truck drivers figure that out fast and just cut through whenever it's clear.

Kept a paper backup anyway because that tablet can die on you mid shift and then you are standing there with nothing when the Coast Guard pulls up. Batteries drain, screens crack, and river water finds a way into everything eventually (ask me how I know). The switch makes sense, just do not toss the notebook in the trash the same week you buy the thing.

I read a piece on a dive blog a while back about this exact thing. The guy had 20 years of paper logs and said the day he typed them into a spreadsheet, he finally saw his own patterns, like how his air consumption got way better around dive 300. He also said the paper logs still matter for the stuff computers miss, like how the water felt or what he saw. That mix of old pages and a simple file seems to work for a lot of people.
