My grinder gave out mid-brew this morning

It just made a sad noise and stopped. I had to finish the beans with a rolling pin and a plastic bag, which was a mess. Anyone have a good fix for a Baratza Encore that won't turn on?

Rolling pin method sounds like a solid backup plan to me. Grinders are overrated pieces of tech that just break. A mortar and pestle or even a hammer in a towel works fine and builds character. People get too hung up on perfect grind size when the difference in the cup is tiny. Why spend money fixing a machine when a simple tool does the job? Maybe this is a sign to go back to basics.

Totally agree with @graywright, my last grinder died and I just use a heavy mug now. Works fine and I'm not buying another fancy paperweight.
