TIL a $15 coolant pressure tester saved my engine in Denver last week

Pressure testers are the way to go for sure. I had a similar thing happen with my old F150 last summer. It was overheating but I couldn't see any puddles or drips under the truck. Bought a cheap tester at Harbor Freight and the gauge dropped right away. Turned out to be a tiny crack in the plastic part of the radiator near the top. You would never find that just by looking. Saved me from replacing a bunch of parts that were fine. So no you are not unlucky, these small leaks are just super hard to spot without putting some pressure on the system.

Went 3 years cutting limbs from the wrong side of the tree

At least your buddy got a free show out of it. Job security for the rest of us, I guess.

That moment a fuel line let go on I-10 outside Phoenix at 3am

Was that a Detroit or a Cummins that cracked the line... seems like those injector lines always fail right when you least need it. Did the engine actually get shut down clean or did you have to dump the air to kill it quick?

Hit 100 loaves baked and my kitchen scale finally gave up on me

Man, that scale knew exactly what it was doing. It was like it wanted to quit on the big 1-0-0 just to be dramatic about it. Reminds me of my old blender that finally gave out right after I made my 50th smoothie, like it had some kind of internal counter and decided that was enough chaos for a lifetime. Hope you at least had another bag of flour ready to go or a backup measuring cup, because nothing kills a baking mood like having to eyeball your ingredients. At least you got a good story out of it instead of it just dying on loaf number 47.

That 60 year old camp stove my uncle handed down changed my mind about new gear

The 'constant fuel pressure checks' thing is what gets me, @the_dylan. Like, how often are you really tweaking that knob out in the field? Is it more of a 'set it and forget it' situation once you get the hang of it, or are you genuinely having to babysit the flame every 10 minutes? I've heard mixed things about how often you gotta repump the tank during a big meal cook. Do most people just deal with it on those white gas models or do they end up modding them somehow?
