Question about dealing with a subfloor that had a massive dip in it
I was installing carpet in a bedroom in Austin last month and hit a 3/8 inch dip right in the middle of the room, patched it with leveler but it kicked off way faster than I expected and left a rough edge I had to sand down by hand for an hour has anyone else run into rapid-cure leveler problems on humid days?

Hold up on the humidity thing - I think your problem was more about the thickness of that pour than the weather. That leveler stuff kicks off fast when you lay it on thick, especially anything over like a quarter inch. You gotta do it in thin layers, let each one dry, then come back for another pass.

Man, that's the story of my life with home repair. Seems like half the time I try to fix something simple it turns into a whole day project because of some hidden rule nobody told me about. Like painting - you think you can just slap on a thick coat to save time, but then it drips and takes twice as long to fix. Or caulking a tub, go too thick and it never dries right in the middle. Learned the hard way that thin layers work better for almost everything, leveler included.
